The music program is piloting an iPad program this year, starting with 8 iPads. I hate the prices for most of the stands and cases I’ve seen out there, so I decided to give it a try on my own. We went with the Finitie Kiddie series case in rainbow colors. They look a bit childish, I’ll admit, but it’s pretty good armor, and we only go through 8th grade anyway. I got a 10-port charger as well. I salvaged an unused file folder rack, which was sized just perfectly for these cases. The platform holding the charger was 3D printed, but could be made just as easily from cardboard or scrap wood. It’s attached underneath the file folder rack with zip ties, which worked surprisingly well. I also used many, many ties for cable management. That was really the key to making the whole thing look tidy. I’m very pleased with the finished product. Not only did it save a fair amount of money, but it really demonstrates the school’s commitment to resourcefulness. I can’t wait to see how it stands up to actual kid use!
